Trader Joe’s Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie
I’ve been hanging on to this Trader Joe’s Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie for awhile now. I figured today would be the perfect day to try it because it’s National Chocolate Chip Day! Don’t you just love these “holidays”?!
I’m not a calorie counter but this cookie is 2,000 calories. Yes, you read that right! It’s 2,000 calories. Something about that just doesn’t seem right. That’s another reason I’m JUST baking it. The guilt!
First things first
This chocolate chip cookie is NOT as large as it appears on the box. Just looking at the box you think it’s pretty big especially after you look on the back and it says 1/10 of the cookie is a serving and that serving is 200 calories. (Hence the 2,000 calorie statement earlier) On the same page? Yes. Ok. Let’s carry on!
I had one issue
The box says to bake until the center is warm and gooey and it should take up to 35 minutes. I baked it for 40 minutes and it still wasn’t “gooey”. The consistency of the Trader Joe’s Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie is firm but soft. I wouldn’t describe it as “gooey”.
I checked on the chocolate chip cookie every 5 minutes between 25 and 40 and just decided to give up after that. I definitely didn’t want it to be hard.
Would I buy it again?
Yes, the cookie is tasty and it’s quite simple to make. Just pop it into the oven, let it bake and then enjoy. Can’t get any better than that! However, I don’t think I’d buy the Trader Joe’s Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie again. It didn’t “wow” me enough for that. It tastes like every other chocolate chip cookie. There was nothing “special” about this dish.
The chocolate chip cookie you should try instead
If you remember Chili’s Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie, then you need to try this recipe. I did a series on recipe hacks based on Todd Wilbur’s Secret Recipe books. This was my favorite recipe in the series. It turned out so well because it tastes just like the dessert I loved to get from Chili’s before they got rid of it.
Have you bought the Trader Joe’s Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie? If so, what did you think?
